Hennepin County Library seeks high school students ages 16 to 19 for positions including Teen Tech Squad member, Teen Art Educator, and Bilingual (Spanish) Teen Teaching Assistant
Teen Tech Squad Members plan and facilitate tech workshops for kids and teens in grades 4-12. TTS members are trained by Science Museum of Minnesota, and work music and video production software, robotics, and other tools. Teens work approximately 25 hours per month, including evenings and weekends, throughout the year at one library. Positions are available at Brookdale, Brooklyn Park, Eden Prairie, Franklin, Hosmer, and Minneapolis Central Libraries. Contact Kat at email@example.com with questions.
Teen Art Educators work with Minneapolis Institute of Art to plan and facilitate creative art events for children entering grades 2nd-5th at various Hennepin County libraries. Teens work between 40 and 60 hours throughout the summer at various libraries. Contact Joyce at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
Teen Teaching Assistants (Spanish bilingual) work with Hennepin County Library librarians to plan and implement learning activities for 4 & 5 year old Latino children who will be entering Kindergarten in September 2016. Teens work 12 hours a week for six weeks throughout the summer at one library. Positions available at Augsburg Park, East Lake, and Franklin Libraries. Teen Creative Arts Internships
Looking for a paid internship that delivers career skills and sparks creativity? Check out the Teen Creative Arts Internship Program offered by Pillsbury House Theater, a Minneapolis local non-profit organization working to integrate the arts into all aspects of the human services from Early Childhood Education and truancy prevention to the afterschool and summer camp programs.
Two teen creative arts internships are offered: Fashion Design Internship & Culinary Art Internship.
8 weeks of hands-on paid baking and business experience
2 days per week of baking in a commercial kitchen with a real professional chef
1 day of deliveries and taking orders for next week's desserts
1 day of business skills: Marketing, budgeting, sales and resume building
8 weeks of hands-on sewing and fashion business experience
2 days per week sewing and clothing creation lessons
1 day of free project time to work on garments or an online store
1 day of business skills: Marketing, styling, sales and resume building
Who Can Apply:
Youth entering 8th-12th grades
When is it?
Part time, 2-3 hours a day, 4 days a week (you can still have another job!)
Tue-Thurs 2-5pm, Fridays 2-4pm
How much will I be paid?
$500 for the 8 week program, paid in weekly installments if you attend all 4 sessions/week

The classes take place at the same time, so you'll have to choose.

Teen Teamworks Applications for Summer 2016 are Now Available!
Teen Teamworks helps teens ages 14-18 acquire relevant job skills and perspective through hands-on MPRB project work and training. Youth receive supervised on-the-job training, work readiness sessions, educational services, and earn a bi-weekly paycheck.
Participants acquire knowledge and skills appropriate to specific careers and general work expectations related to promptness, commitment and persistence that can serve them in whatever career they may choose. Helping young teens gain appreciation for the connection between academic, social, judgment and job skills is an ongoing focus for Teen Teamworks.
